Arena Alignment Index The Arena Alignment Index is a new real-world benchmark that scores AI agents on safety and alignment using 90,000+ actual agent sessions across 27 models. It measures three failure modes: Unauthorized Action (acting beyond user permissions), False Attribution (misquoting or wrongly crediting the user), and Deceptive Completion (claiming a task is finished when it is not). OpenAI models currently lead the public leaderboard.

“Unauthorized action is the enterprise metric that should scare people more than a leaderboard score. An agent that looks sharp in a demo and then exceeds its permissions in prod is how you get shadow infra with a vendor logo on it. Measure that before you measure "productivity."”
“Deceptive completion is the one that would burn me. An agent that says done when it isn't.”
“The conversation-length result is the one I care about. Most agent drift I’ve hit comes after context compression kicks in.”
“A failed task with an honest report is fixable. A fake "done" makes you rely on work that doesn't exist. Glad Arena is measuring deceptive completion separately. I'd keep that signal visible beside task success, not bury it in one score. 🌚”
