Job Description and Requirements

We Are

Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.

You Are

You have spent years working close enough to chip design to know that the real work happens in the messy space between what the foundry specifies, what the tools can do, and what the customer actually needs to ship. You understand that a fill runset is not just a script, it is the thing that keeps a tapeout from slipping by three weeks because someone caught a DRC violation at 2 a.m. You are the kind of engineer who can sit in a room with a foundry partner, hear what they are really asking for underneath the jargon, and walk out with a plan that works for both the process node and the product roadmap. You do not wait for perfect documentation. You dig into the runset, test it, break it if you need to, and come back with a fix or a workaround that actually holds up in production. You have worked enough customer escalations to know that the fastest path to resolution is usually a combination of technical depth and clear communication, and you are comfortable doing both. At Synopsys, you will work on fill technology that powers the most advanced process nodes in the industry, and the foundries and customers you support will know your name.

What You'll Be Doing

• Partner directly with leading foundries to develop, qualify, and release advanced fill runsets for cutting-edge process nodes, ensuring they meet both foundry specifications and customer production requirements
• Collaborate with R&D teams to define and drive new ICV features that address real foundry and customer needs, translating technical gaps into product requirements that ship
• Support customer engagements by diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues in fill flows, DRC runsets, and physical design environments, often under tight tapeout timelines
• Work across internal teams including sales, product management, and engineering to align on customer priorities, technical roadmaps, and deployment strategies
• Manage the full lifecycle of runset releases, from initial development and testing through deployment, maintenance, and ongoing customer adoption in production flows
• Drive root-cause analysis on escalations, working with customers and foundries to identify issues, propose solutions, and close the loop with product improvements
• Bring foundry and customer feedback into the product development cycle, helping shape the next generation of Synopsys fill and verification solutions

The Impact You Will Have

• Enable successful tapeouts at advanced nodes by delivering fill runsets that work the first time in production, reducing design cycle time and risk for customers
• Strengthen Synopsys relationships with strategic foundry partners by being the technical bridge that ensures their process requirements are met in our tools
• Accelerate product adoption and customer success by resolving technical blockers quickly and effectively, often before they become escalations
• Influence the ICV product roadmap by surfacing real-world needs from the field and ensuring R&D builds features that solve actual customer problems
• Help customers achieve higher quality of results and faster turnaround by improving fill flows, runset accuracy, and integration with their existing design environments
• Build long-term technical credibility with key accounts, becoming the engineer they call when something critical needs to work
• Contribute to Synopsys competitive position in physical verification by ensuring our fill solutions remain best-in-class for the most advanced process nodes

What You'll Need

• Solid understanding of ASIC design flow, VLSI fundamentals, and CAD engineering principles, with the ability to navigate complex design environments
• Working knowledge of Design Rule Checking, fill insertion, or physical verification flows, ideally with hands-on experience in at least one EDA tool suite
• Familiarity with competitive EDA products in verification, place and route, or physical design, and an understanding of how they fit into the broader design flow
• Ability to manage technical projects from scoping through delivery, balancing multiple priorities and stakeholders without losing sight of the end goal
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work through ambiguous or incomplete information, finding solutions that are both technically sound and practical
• Experience working with foundries, customers, or cross-functional engineering teams is a plus
• Fluency in English and Mandarin is required for effective communication with foundry and customer teams in Taiwan and across Asia

Who You Are

• You can explain a complex DRC failure to a customer in a way that makes sense without oversimplifying the technical reality, and you know when to escalate versus when to solve it yourself
• You are comfortable being the person in the room who does not have all the answers yet, but knows how to ask the right questions and figure it out quickly
• You build trust with customers and foundry partners not by overpromising, but by following through and being transparent when something is harder than expected
• You stay organized across multiple engagements, runset releases, and technical issues without dropping threads or losing track of what matters most
• You are resourceful enough to work around incomplete specs, delayed feedback, or shifting priorities, and you do it without creating chaos for the people downstream
• You care about the details, whether it is a runset parameter that could cause a violation or a customer email that needs a clear, thoughtful response

The Team You'll Be Part Of

You will join the Customer Application Services team, a group of engineers who work at the intersection of product development, foundry collaboration, and customer success. The team supports some of the most advanced semiconductor design projects in the industry, working closely with foundries, design teams, and sales professionals to ensure Synopsys solutions deliver in production. You will collaborate in a culture that values technical depth, knowledge sharing, and mutual respect, where your contributions directly shape both customer outcomes and product direction.

Rewards and Benefits

We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.
