About the Jaeb Center for Health Research
The Jaeb Center is a nonprofit organization based in Tampa, Florida, serving primarily as a Coordinating Center for multi-center clinical trials. To learn more about current projects and research initiatives, please visit www.jaeb.org.
  Summary
The Senior Software Quality Engineer serves as the technical leader responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of JCHR’s software quality engineering capabilities.

This role owns the technical strategy and architecture for software quality engineering across JCHR’s internally developed applications. The role partners closely with Software Engineers, Clinical Operations, Data Management, and leadership to ensure software systems are reliable, maintainable, validated, and fit for use in regulated clinical research environments.

This is a hands-on engineering role. The successful candidate will spend significant time writing code, building automation, developing testing infrastructure, analyzing systems, and improving engineering tooling—not defining testing processes or managing test execution.

Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Engineering Leadership
  • Own Jaeb's technical strategy and architecture for software quality engineering.
  • Define and maintain software testing standards, practices, and governance.
  • Establish quality metrics and reporting used to measure product health and release readiness.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across development, testing, and deployment processes.
  • Act as the organization's subject matter expert for quality engineering.
AI-Enabled Quality Engineering
  • Use AI coding and agentic development tools to accelerate test creation, maintenance, analysis, and defect investigation.
  • Evaluate emerging AI-native software engineering practices and determine where they can safely improve software quality, development velocity, and engineering effectiveness.
  • Explore autonomous and semi-autonomous testing approaches, including AI-generated test cases, browser-based testing, and intelligent regression analysis.
  • Develop controls and validation practices for software and tests produced with AI-assisted engineering tools.
  • Establish practical patterns for incorporating AI into the software development lifecycle while maintaining appropriate human oversight and regulatory controls.
Test Architecture & Framework Ownership
  • Design, build, and maintain enterprise-grade automated testing frameworks.
  • Develop standards and reusable components for automated testing across unit, integration, API, system, and end-to-end testing, with appropriate approaches for performance, accessibility, security, and other specialized testing needs.
  • Define testing architecture patterns used across software products.
  • Evaluate and implement testing tools, frameworks, and platforms.
  • Ensure testing capabilities scale with business and technical growth.
