Josh Tobin is co-founder and CTO of Recursive. Previously, he led agents research at OpenAI, including work on Deep Research, ChatGPT Agent, and Codex. He co-founded Gantry and served as CEO, co-organized Full Stack Deep Learning, and taught at UC Berkeley. Earlier, he researched robotics at OpenAI and worked as a McKinsey business analyst. He earned a PhD in computer science from UC Berkeley in 2019 and a BA in mathematics from Columbia in 2013.
