Joanne Jang is a co-founder and member of technical staff at Core Automation, which she joined in April 2026. Previously at OpenAI, she led product work on GPT-4, DALL·E 2, voice, APIs, and embeddings, then built the model-behavior discipline covering personalization, memory, and model personality. She founded OpenAI Labs in 2025 to explore new interfaces between people and AI. Earlier, she worked on Google Assistant's natural-language understanding and Dropbox's enterprise and education products. She holds an M.S. in Computer Science and a B.S. in Mathematical and Computational Science from Stanford, where she also taught computer science. Her early experience includes software engineering internships at Apple, Coursera, and Disney.
