Pat Matthews founded Active Capital in 2018, a San Antonio pre-seed firm that writes first checks of around $500K into technical founders rebuilding business software and infrastructure for an AI-native world. He co-founded Webmail.us, bootstrapped it to $1M in annual recurring revenue and grew it into a $10M SaaS business before Rackspace acquired it in 2007. He then spent six years at Rackspace leading some of its fastest-growing businesses, including cloud computing, as revenue grew from $300M to $1.5B.
