Mikhail G. Shapiro is the Max Delbrück Professor of Chemical Engineering and Medical Engineering at Caltech, an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and Director of Caltech’s Center for Molecular and Cellular Medicine. His research develops biomolecular technologies to image and control cellular function inside the body using ultrasound and magnetic fields, with applications in neuroscience, synthetic biology, cancer, immunology, and cell-based therapeutics. He is also a co-founder of Merge Labs, a research lab developing high-bandwidth brain-computer interfaces that combine biology, devices, and artificial intelligence.
