About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, highly diligent financial leader to serve as the US FP&A Lead. In this critical dual-impact role, you will take immediate ownership of our US financial operations, regulatory finance function, and core FP&A processes while acting as a key strategic partner to leadership and cross-functional teams.
You will bridge high-rigor financial governance, regulatory compliance, and strategic cost-center analysis to drive business performance and optimize financial outcomes in a high-growth environment. Operating as a primary accountable financial officer, you will manage state-level regulatory reporting across key US jurisdictions (including New York, New Jersey, Florida, and California), liaise with state regulators, and lead preparations for multi-state licensing examinations. Concurrently, you will serve as a proactive advisor—translating complex data into actionable insights, delivering accurate forecasts, and influencing key stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment and commercial success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic FP&A & Commercial Planning: Lead US budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and strategic financial planning to support rapid growth, guide commercial decision-making, and uncover opportunities that drive top-line growth and profitability.
  • Business Performance & Budget Management: Challenge the business on performance tracking versus budget targets, ensure strict adherence to financial targets, and manage cost-center reporting across teams.
  • Financial Analysis & Strategic Advisory: Partner with cross-functional teams to analyze financial data and key business metrics, track trends, identify areas of concern, and proactively generate actionable insights to improve cost efficiency and overall performance.
  • Stakeholder Alignment & Executive Reporting: Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, aligning their goals with broader company objectives while enhancing financial reporting through clear, compelling storytelling.
  • Regulatory Finance & Compliance: Own state-level regulatory compliance across key jurisdictions, including NMLS MSB Call Reports, Tangible Net Worth (TNW) monitoring, permissible investment tracking, and surety bond management.
  • Audit, Financial Reporting & SOX Control: Own audited US financial statements, financial reporting, and the internal controls environment maintained with SOX-level rigor.
  • Regulator & External Examiner Engagement: Serve as the key executive liaison to state regulators and external auditors, leading multi-state licensing examinations (MSE) and regulatory financial audits.
  • Leadership, Process Improvement & Scaling: Establish and scale the US finance function and continuously implement process improvements to streamline reporting, boost forecasting accuracy, and drive sound decision-making.

What you bring to the table
  • Core Credentials & Background: Active US Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential, or fully qualified accountant certification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Progressive Finance Leadership: 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including at least 3–5+ years in regulated financial services (e.g., money transmission, payments, fintech, or banking) along with strong experience as a Finance Business Partner or managing cost-center budgets.
  • Regulatory Finance Ownership: Hands-on experience with state-level regulatory requirements, including NMLS filings, MSB call reports, Tangible Net Worth (TNW) monitoring, permissible investments, and surety bonds.
  • Financial Controls & Reporting Rigor: Direct experience owning audited US financial statements, managing external audit relationships, and maintaining internal controls with SOX-level rigor.
  • Regulatory Approval Readiness: Ability to be approved quickly as an NMLS control person / executive officer, requiring an established US background suitable for standard FBI fingerprinting, credit, and background checks.
  • Financial Analytics & Strategic Decision-Making: Strong ability to analyze complex financial data, track business trends, and craft detailed reports and compelling narratives that inform strategic decision-making.
  • Stakeholder Influence & Collaboration: Proactive team player who collaborates seamlessly across departments with a demonstrated track record of influencing key stakeholders and driving alignment with company goals.
  • Execution & Adaptability: Proven capability to perform effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environments while maintaining an uncompromised focus on accuracy, quality, and tight deadlines.

Bonus Points
  • Audit / Advisory Background: Big 4 audit or transaction advisory experience.
  • Exam Experience: Prior experience leading or managing multi-state licensing examinations (MSE).
  • FP&A Depth: Deep strategic FP&A and financial modeling background prior to broad financial management.

AI Literacy & Tools
As Zepz continues to build AI into how we work, we expect everyone to engage with it as a core part of their role. For this position we are looking for:
  • A genuine curiosity about AI and how it can be applied in your area of work — from accelerating analysis and insight generation, to improving how we design and deliver processes and communications.
  • Practical experience using AI tools in a professional context — whether to connect information, draft content, build frameworks, or create insights from data. We want people who actively use AI to increase productivity, not those who are waiting to be told to.
  • Strong AI literacy — an understanding of what AI assistants can and cannot do, how to prompt effectively, and how to critically evaluate AI-generated output before using it.
  • Awareness of the ethical considerations and responsible use of AI in the workplace, particularly in the context of sensitive data, customer experience, and compliance.
  • Prior experience using Claude (Anthropic) is a nice-to-have but not essential — what matters most is that you are genuinely engaged with AI as a tool, comfortable experimenting, and eager to share what works with your wider team
