About Austin Sensing Company

Austin Sensing Company builds radar, acoustic, and RF sensors for defense, public safety, critical infrastructure, and autonomous systems. We design and manufacture our hardware in Austin, Texas, with a focus on making high-performance sensing reliable, affordable, and widely available.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Business Development Representative to generate new sales opportunities with public safety agencies. You’ll prospect into police departments, fire departments, sheriffs’ offices, and emergency management agencies, reach decision-makers, and turn outbound conversations into qualified meetings and sales pipeline.

This is an outbound sales role with clear targets for qualified meetings and pipeline generation. You’ll spend much of your day calling prospects, sending targeted outreach, handling objections, and following up. You’ll work closely with our account executives to move interested agencies toward demonstrations, evaluations, and purchases.

What You’ll Do

• Build new sales pipeline through consistent outbound calls, emails, and LinkedIn outreach.

• Identify and prospect decision-makers, including chiefs, sheriffs, UAS program managers, real-time crime center leaders, and emergency management directors.

• Explain our products clearly and connect their capabilities to an agency’s operational needs.

• Handle objections, establish interest, and secure qualified meetings and demonstrations for account executives.

• Qualify prospects based on use case, purchasing authority, budget, and timeline.

• Follow up persistently with prospects and reengage accounts that have gone quiet.

• Respond quickly to inbound leads and convert interest into scheduled sales conversations.

• Work with account executives on account strategy, messaging, and next steps.

• Maintain accurate CRM records so every opportunity has clear context, ownership, and a next action.

• Meet targets for outbound activity, qualified meetings, and pipeline generation. Track which approaches produce opportunities that advance.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience in outbound sales, sales development, or a comparable role with measurable sales targets.

• Confidence making cold calls and asking directly for a meeting or next step.

• A record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.

• The ability to handle rejection, address objections, and maintain consistent effort.

• Clear, concise communication over the phone and in writing.

• Strong follow-through and the ability to manage outreach across many accounts.

• The ability to learn technical products and explain their value accurately.

• Comfort being accountable for results and using feedback to improve your sales approach.

Preferred Experience

• Experience selling to public safety agencies or state and local government.

• Experience selling hardware, software, or other technical products.

• Familiarity with police and fire operations, drone programs, or real-time crime centers.

• Experience using a CRM and outbound prospecting tools.

• Experience generating pipeline for account executives in a growing sales organization.
