Founding Infrastructure Wizard (SRE)

About the role

About Closure

Closure helps law enforcement search evidence and solve crime. We build digital analysts that support public servants at every level of criminal justice.

Public servants across the U.S. use Closure to expedite investigations into cold cases, homicides, gang conflicts, sexual assault, and other serious offenses, as well as critical administrative support.

We’re live with police departments, prosecutors, sheriffs, state investigative agencies, and other criminal justice stakeholders across the country, reducing evidence overload across the criminal justice system.

Closure is an intentionally tight-knit team of ambitious ex-Palantir and ex-IDF engineers and operators. We operate with high speed, high integrity, high autonomy, and low ego (or so we like to think), backed by reputable investors including Y Combinator, CRV, Pathlight, and others.

Role Description:

We’re looking for a Founding Infrastructure Wizard (SRE) to own Closure’s infrastructure end-to-end, reporting directly to the CTO. Part SRE, part DevOps, part infra wizard: you’ll build and run the systems that law enforcement agencies trust with their most sensitive evidence.

• Own the Cloud: Design, build, and operate our infrastructure across AWS (including GovCloud) and GCP, defined in Terraform and running on ECS.
• Security by Design: Build and maintain infrastructure that meets CJIS and government security requirements (access control, encryption, logging, audit readiness), working closely with our compliance team.
• GPUs & AI Workloads: Provision and scale GPU capacity for LLM and ML workloads, balancing performance, reliability, and cost.
• Reliability: Own uptime, monitoring, alerting, and incident response. When something breaks, you find it first and fix it fast.
• Developer Velocity: Build the CI/CD, environments, and tooling that let a small team ship fast without cutting corners on security.

About You

• Mission-Driven: Excited to contribute to U.S. government competence and public safety.
• Owner-Builder Mindset: Bias toward action, thrives in extremely fast-paced environments. Looking to do the best work of your life.
• Security-First: You treat security and compliance as engineering problems, not paperwork. Experience with CJIS, FedRAMP, or similar government environments is a strong plus.
• Comfort with Ambiguity: We are an early-stage startup with many exciting questions to be answered; you run toward unasked and unanswered questions.

Location:

• New York City (Preferred)
