Job Type: Full-time

Department: Engineering

Location: San Francisco (In-Person)

Salary: $175K — $225K

Equity: 0.50% — 1.00%

Our Values

  • Act with Urgency: We move swiftly from decision to action — prioritizing impact, cutting through complexity, and delivering results without delay.
  • Lead with Grit: We tackle every challenge with persistence, ingenuity, and resilience — turning obstacles into opportunities for growth and excellence.
  • Earn and Keep Trust: We build credibility through honesty, accountability, and transparency — doing what’s right even when no one’s watching.

The Role

We’re hiring a Full-Stack Engineer to own key product features end-to-end. You’ll work across React, NestJS, Postgres, Prisma ORM, and AWS to ship features that power AI-driven workflows and core user experiences.

You’ll get high-level product direction, and be trusted to scope, design, and build the right solution — quickly and independently. This is a role for someone who knows how to unblock themselves, drill into ambiguity, and ship without waiting on perfect specs.

What You’ll Do

  • Ship full-stack product features across our core app and AI-powered workflows
  • Translate high-level product goals into concrete backend + frontend implementations
  • Make smart tradeoffs in speed, scope, and UX — without excessive handholding
  • Work closely with product/business/operations teams across sprints to move fast and stay aligned
  • Touch every part of the stack: React, NestJS, PostgreSQL, Prisma ORM, AWS

About You - What We’re Looking For

Must-Haves:

  • 2–4 years building full-stack products in production environments
  • Attended a reputable 4-year university in with a strong CS program
  • Strong across both frontend and backend
  • Have a strong product-oriented mindset
  • Ability to take a problem statement and own the solution through to shipping
  • Knows when to move fast, when to ask questions, and when to polish
  • No ego, no drama — just high-context execution and good judgment
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and skilled at building structure in fast-moving, chaotic environments
  • Have excellent communication skills and responsiveness
  • Have an eagerness to build solutions to challenging problems in a fast-paced and autonomous environment, as candidates will take on a wide set of responsibilities

Ideal candidate has:

  • Has strong personal projects that demonstrate that you have built and shipped products, for which there are current active users
  • Current job or previous job is at a high-growth startup or market-leading tech company, where you have demonstrated fast-track career progression in those roles
  • Experience building complex, workflow-driven vertical AI enterprise products (Vanta, Ramp, Gusto, etc.)

Not a Fit If:

  • You’re looking for a 9–5 with fixed hours
  • You’re looking for remote or hybrid work
  • You prioritize or think about work-life balance often
  • You’re uncomfortable in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • You need rigid structure or hand-holding to be effective
  • You lead with ego instead of curiosity, collaboration, and accountability
  • You struggle to balance competing priorities across strategic and tactical work

Why In-Person in SF Matters

  • You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with a cracked sales and product team of former founders and industry experts in their 20s.
  • Decisions happen live, not in backlogged async threads.
  • A players work with A players. There’s a buzzing energy in the office. Hit the whiteboard with anyone here and you’ll understand why.

Benefits

  • 100% premium medical, dental & vision coverage for you and your dependents
  • Unlimited PTO + major federal holidays
  • DoorDash stipend + all meals covered in-office
  • Gym membership covered
  • Frequent team dinners, events, and off-sites
  • The opportunity to transform and take over a legacy, multi-billion-dollar industry

About Carma

The AGI race is a construction race. Compute is the new uranium, and America is racing the CCP to build it faster.

Yet more than 40% of America’s 2026 data centers are already late. They’re late because America’s construction companies still coordinate every jobsite by phone call and spreadsheet.

Carma is building Adam, the AI that runs American construction. Five people. $2M ARR three months after our first invoice. $4.21M a year in new profit for a single contractor.

We’re hiring the engineers who will win this race for America.

History remembers Los Alamos, but Oak Ridge cost sixteen times as much. Today, San Francisco is Los Alamos and Middle America is Oak Ridge. San Francisco knows the year the machines will out-think us. It doesn’t know why the substation for its next gigawatt data center is six months behind.

We do.

Construction companies are paid a fixed price for projects, so every hour of delay comes straight out of their profit. Speed is profit. Adam runs every decision for one number, operating profit, and that number pulls every department the same way: faster.

You’ll build the system that runs construction end to end, from groundbreaking to the finished data center. When autonomous robots reach the jobsite, the system we build will direct them.

We’re cash-flow positive and led by two brothers, one ex-Wall Street, the ex-med school, both undefeated boxing champions. You’ll work with us in person in San Francisco, with frequent on-site trips to forward-deploy our customers on the ground in Middle America.

Whoever builds faster wins. We will make sure it’s America.
