Background
Field has entered its next phase of growth. In June, Ofgem selected 16 long-duration energy storage projects to progress to delivery - Field was awarded 5 of them. Collectively, these projects represent roughly double the MWh capacity of all battery storage installed in the UK to date. Field currently has 4 projects, totalling over 1GWh, in construction in GB, with plenty more delivery ahead. Field also has 6 operational projects across GB and Germany.
Field is exploring novel technologies too, drawing on its development experience to capitalise on global trends.
Exceptional talent is what makes all of this possible. Your Mission As a Grid Lead, you will have responsibility across Field's GB Development portfolio - from origination through to pre-construction. You'll be a go-to expert for electrical and grid queries across the business; feeding directly into design during early development, managing relationships with NESO and Transmission Owners, leading early-stage grid compliance work and shaping the company's stance on grid compliance across the whole portfolio.
This is a highly technical, highly autonomous role. You'll combine deep power systems and grid connection expertise with commercial judgement. It's also a collaborative role, working closely with the Origination team, Development Project Managers and Project Engineers.
If you're looking for an exciting role, working on a secured portfolio of real, transmission-scale projects and helping define how Field continues to develop in the grid connections space, this is it. Our projects are large-scale, high-value and at the forefront of the energy transition.

What you’ll be doing
Management of grid connections for origination and development projects and novel technologies, including:

• Understanding the grid-related opportunities and risks of each development project;
• Providing electrical design expertise during early project development;
• Preparation of single line diagrams (SLDs) and general arrangement drawings;
• Management of grid connection applications, from application through to acceptance and modifications; and
• Stakeholder engagement with NESO and the relevant Transmission Owners (TOs).

Industry intelligence and pipeline strategy, including:

• Sharing key industry developments in grid connections — including Connections Reform and CUSC modifications — with the wider business, and making recommendations to directly shape the GB pipeline;
• Maintaining expert knowledge of the existing and future GB electricity network; and
• Keeping abreast of developments in the grid landscape to spot opportunities for what to develop next, and where, and advising the wider business accordingly.

Power systems engineering expertise and grid compliance for pre-construction projects, including:

• Oversee the procurement of early stage grid compliance studies to feed directly into site designs;
• Ownership of the early G99 and ONCC connection application processes, including P28 and G5/5 reports to inform the final project design for procurement;
• Acting as the go-to contact for Project Managers, providing recommendations based on the impact of grid issues on budgets and programme; and
• On-going liaison with TOs and NESO to resolve issues as they arise.

The skills you’ll need

• Electrical Engineering degree (or equivalent) with 6+ years’ experience within a grid connections, power systems or electrical engineering role in BESS, power generation or a related infrastructure sector;
• A sense of entrepreneurialism, strong commercial awareness and a solid understanding of transmission grid connections and wider project development lifecycles;
• Strong working knowledge of the G99 and ONCC connection application processes, confidence reviewing P28 and G5/5 reports, and familiarity with Grid Code
• Proven ability to build and cultivate productive working relationships with NESO and TO representatives
• Up to date knowledge of grid-related industry developments, including Connections Reform and CUSC modifications
• Excellent communication skills.  You should be comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders, including Field’s Senior Leadership Team
• Ability to work autonomously

A bit about Field
Field builds, owns and operates renewable energy infrastructure. We develop grid-scale BESS sites across the UK, Italy, Spain, and Germany, backed, so far, by a £265 million investment from CVC DIF. Our mission is to continue to grow internationally and develop a strong global BESS portfolio.
Batteries have a big job to do. They store renewable energy for when it's needed most, reducing grid intermittency and displacing carbon-intensive generation. Without storage, renewables can't scale — and we're here to change that. We have 300 MWh operational, >1 GWh under construction, and tens of GWh in development.
We're a team of experts in our fields — from engineers and construction managers to traders and data scientists — who roll up their sleeves and move fast. We're curious, we share openly, and we're genuinely motivated by the mission.
We are an eclectic team with diverse backgrounds, from scaling billion-dollar tech startups to building energy companies and specialising in energy markets. You'll work with fun, curious, entrepreneurial people making a real impact. We're proving batteries are a viable energy solution now. Our ambitious plans include becoming Europe's leading clean energy player and expanding beyond batteries into new assets

Our Values

• Work for the team - We are friendly and approachable. We make time for each other, value diverse perspectives, and learn and grow together.
• Do it right - We prioritise doing things right, never cutting corners. Safety comes first, and we consider our impact on communities and the environment. We act with integrity always.
• Move fast - We’re doers. We take responsibility, deliver on promises, and get things done. FAST.
• Know your stuff - We’re curious self-starters, always learning, adapting, and improving. No question is too small. We own our growth.
