About DocuSketch:
DocuSketch is a leading software solution provider for the restoration, property insurance, and real estate industries in North America. Our AI-empowered digital platforms enable restoration companies, adjusters, and insurers to efficiently document, manage, and process property claims. Driven by a loyal customer base, DocuSketch has become one of the fastest-growing technology companies in the proptech sector.

Our headquarters are in Potsdam, Germany. While we have strong hubs in Germany and Serbia, our team is truly borderless, with employees distributed across Europe, the US, and Canada. We are currently undergoing an exciting transformation in how we build software. We aren't just adopting AI; we are building small, hyper-autonomous squads that design agentic workflows and human-in-the-loop systems to multiply their output, combining AI-orchestrated engineering with deep, foundational product expertise.

About the Role:
We're not hiring for a specific layer of the stack — we're hiring for ownership. As a Senior Product Engineer, you'll join a small, autonomous "mini-startup" squad that owns a product domain end-to-end, from first prototype to production. You'll use AI agents daily to move fast across the stack, so you can focus on what matters: solving real customer problems and shipping measurable outcomes.

Real depth in one layer of our stack — mobile (Kotlin/KMP, or native iOS/Android), backend (Java/Spring Boot), or frontend (Angular) — is what we screen for; the ability to work confidently in the others, with AI leverage, is what makes you a fit. We're actively growing our mobile bench right now, so a strong native iOS or Android background is very welcome even without prior Kotlin Multiplatform experience.

What You'll Do

• Own the Product Journey: Operate with a true builder mindset. Work tightly with your small squad to deeply understand customer pain points, prototype solutions, and ship high-value features end-to-end.

• Deliver Across the Stack: Anchored by deep strength in your core layer (Kotlin/KMP, Java/Spring Boot, or Angular), and — with AI leverage — work confidently in the others to architect and deliver robust experiences end-to-end.

• Agent System Design & Evals: Design autonomous agent loops—managing tool permissions, failure recovery, and knowing when not to delegate to an agent. Build robust eval frameworks and measurement systems to systematically test, score, and distrust model outputs before they touch production.

• Navigate & Modernize: Confidently dive into legacy codebases when necessary, debugging and modernizing infrastructure to ensure our core platform remains stable and performant as we scale.

• Champion Quality & Collaboration: Act as a technical leader within your squad. Uphold rigorous engineering standards through thoughtful code reviews, automated testing, and a focus on long-term maintainability.

What You Bring

• Product Empathy: You care about the user outcome and the why behind what you build, not just lines of code shipped.

• Startup Mentality & Collaboration: You move fast, make your reasoning reviewable, and treat your squad's outcome as your own. In a three-person squad, your judgment is a third of the team's — we hire accordingly.

• Cross-Functional Ownership: You take initiative on problems that cross team or product boundaries, without waiting to be asked.

• Outcome-Oriented: You focus on measurable business value and are comfortable navigating ambiguity.

Technical & AI Foundations

• Proven Experience: 8+ years of software engineering experience shipping products end-to-end.

• Depth in Our Stack: Real expertise in at least one of — Kotlin/KMP (native iOS/Android experience counts, with a fast path to Kotlin Multiplatform), Java/Spring Boot, or Angular — plus the ability to work effectively in the others, leveraging AI.

• Demonstrated Range: Hands-on experience already spanning more than one layer of the stack (...e.g. mobile + backend, or web + mobile.).

• Agentic Execution & Evals: Daily, hands-on use of AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, or similar); you build evals and treat model output with healthy, systematic distrust.

• Systems Thinking: Strong architectural judgment — system boundaries, edge cases, long-term technical direction.

• Modern Engineering & Language: Deep CI/CD and automated-testing experience in agile teams, with excellent English to collaborate across our international squads.

Nice to Have

• Adjacent Frameworks: Experience in Python, SwiftUI, or Jetpack Compose that transfers readily to our stack — a plus, not a substitute for depth in our stack.

• Domain Expertise: Background in InsurTech, PropTech, or property restoration.

• Product AI Integration: Hands-on experience building LLM features directly into customer-facing applications (OpenAI, Anthropic APIs, LangChain, vector databases).

Why Join DocuSketch?

• Build the Future of Engineering: Don't just use AI—define how it's used to build products. You'll be at the forefront of the next era of AI-orchestrated software development.

• Small Squads, Massive Impact: Your work won't get lost in corporate bureaucracy. You will operate in a small, fast-moving squad that ships high-value features directly impacting thousands of professionals across North America.

• Startup Speed, Market Leader Stability: Enjoy the high-energy, fast-prototyping environment of a startup, backed by the financial security of a profitable, industry-leading PropTech company.

• True Flexibility: Work from where you're most productive. We offer fully remote options across Europe (with hubs in Germany and Serbia) and a diverse, international culture.

(Please note: We are currently unable to process applications from candidates located in Belarus or Russia.)
