About the role
About the Role
As a Senior Deployment Engineer at ARX Robotics, you will take our autonomous and software-defined ground systems from the lab into the field. You will be the technical bridge between our engineering teams and the military and security partners who operate our robotic platforms. Your work ensures that our modular systems and autonomy software run reliably, securely, and at scale in real operational environments.
You will join a fast-growing team in a highly regulated defense environment, where precision, accountability, and close collaboration with customers matter. You will have a direct influence on how our products are deployed, how they perform in the field, and how we continuously improve them based on operational feedback.
What You'll Build
- Plan and lead the deployment of robotic platforms and autonomy software at customer sites, from installation and commissioning to acceptance testing.
- Design and maintain repeatable deployment processes, including configuration management, software packaging, and update procedures for distributed systems.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in the field and at our facilities, working closely with software, systems, and hardware engineering.
- Build and improve tooling, scripts, and automation to speed up deployments, testing, and system health monitoring.
- Define and document deployment standards, runbooks, and operator guidelines that meet our security and compliance requirements.
- Train customer operators and maintenance personnel, and act as a trusted technical point of contact during missions and exercises.
- Feed structured field data and lessons learned back into product development to improve reliability and usability.
- Support the planning of deployment projects, including scope, timelines, risks, and resource requirements, in coordination with project and product management.
What You Bring
- Several years of experience in deployment, field engineering, systems integration, or DevOps for complex technical systems. Experience with robotics, autonomous vehicles, or defense systems is a strong advantage.
- Solid Linux system administration skills, including networking fundamentals, service configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Bash) and experience with version control and automation.
- Hands-on experience with containerization and deployment tooling (e.g., Docker; Kubernetes or CI/CD pipelines are a plus).
- Familiarity with robotics middleware such as ROS 2 is an advantage.
- A structured, methodical approach to problem-solving, with clear documentation habits.
- Strong communication skills in English; German is a plus. You can explain technical issues clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for deployments, sometimes at short notice and under demanding conditions.
- Willingness to undergo a security clearance process, as required for work in the defense sector.
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, information security and export control requirements.
Please note: You do not need to meet every single requirement to apply. We welcome motivated candidates who are eager to grow into the role and develop their expertise further.
