Could you be the full-time System Engineer in Villeurbanne (69 - France) we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your system engineering expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside a young, multidisciplinary, and motivated team, contributing to shaping the future of mobility by developing advanced solutions for Perception systems supporting driver assistance up to full train autonomy.

These systems combine advanced sensors (cameras, radars, LiDAR, GNSS, odometry, and other onboard data sources) with real-time software architectures to enable trains to perceive and understand their surroundings, detect obstacles, accurately localize themselves, and support or automate driving operations.

You'll play a key role in analyzing needs and requirements (both internal and external) and formalizing and maintaining system specifications (operational, functional, and construction) within the Perception program that you will coordinate in collaboration with internal development teams. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (system architects, validation and verification teams, software and electronic engineers), collaborate with partners in innovation and perception-related programs, participate in the design and specification of systems, and support laboratory and on-site testing activities.

You’ll specifically take care of conceptual design, including system models, design studies, interfaces, and prototypes, but also support the validation strategy for prototypes.

We’ll look to you for:

• Analyzing, clarifying, and confirming input requirements and needs

• Defining and maintaining system specifications according to applicable models (OCD, RS, AD, ID, PD)

• Carrying out conceptual design, including system models, design studies, interfaces, and prototypes

• Supporting the validation strategy of the mock-ups

• Ensuring the follow-up of detected issues and necessary corrections

• Promoting Alstom’s Code of Ethics and adhering to the highest standards of ethical conduct

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

• Degree in engineering or a master's degree with significant experience in hardware and/or software development

• Experience in system engineering (architecture and interfaces)

• Knowledge or interest in perception/autonomous systems, or the industrialization of a solution over a complete lifecycle using an MBSE-type methodology

• Ability to communicate clearly and openly with various internal and external stakeholders

• Flexibility and willingness to travel for short or long-term assignments in France or abroad

• Attention to detail, team spirit, and customer satisfaction-oriented

• Comfortable with new technologies and tools

• A valid driving license

• Fluency in both French and English

Things you’ll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

• Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines

• Work with experts in engineering, software, and mobility in a stimulating international context

• Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues

• Contribute to innovative and impactful projects such as autonomous trains

• Utilise our agile and collaborative working environment

• Steer your career in whatever direction you choose

• Progress towards leadership roles or technical expertise

• Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognizes your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
