Company Overview

Intuit is the global financial technology platform that powers prosperity for the people and communities we serve. With tens of millions of customers worldwide using products such as TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, and Mailchimp, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to prosper. We never stop working to find new, innovative ways to make that possible.

Job Overview

Intuit builds the platform that powers financial tools used by millions of small and mid-sized businesses worldwide. Designing in this space requires clarity in complexity, systems thinking at scale, and an uncompromising commitment to craft — at a moment when the definition of great design is changing fast.

At Intuit, we are intentionally building AI into how we design, prototype, and ship. We look for designers who are excited to work with AI to move faster, explore further, and save their energy for the decisions that only human judgment, taste, and creativity can make. This is not about keeping up with AI. It is about using AI to raise the bar on what customers experience.

We are looking for a Principal Product Designer to help define what AI-native design looks like at Intuit — building with AI to accelerate delivery, and designing for AI to ensure the experiences we ship are intuitive, trustworthy, and genuinely useful for the businesses that depend on them.

Responsibilities

Experience Strategy and Quality Stewardship

• Define and drive design vision for AI-powered experiences across our platform
• Set and defend the quality bar for AI-generated and AI-assisted product experiences
• Apply taste, craft, and judgment to ensure what ships reflects the best of what design can contribute
• Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Design leadership to shape experience strategy aligned to customer and business outcomes
• Success measured by the quality of customer experiences shipped, not the volume of artifacts produced

AI-Native Design Execution

• Work with AI to compress the distance from customer insight to testable prototype
• Design for AI to ensure AI-powered features are intuitive, transparent, and earn customer trust
• Design experiences that make AI-powered features intuitive, transparent, and trustworthy for a diverse range of users
• Lead design of complex, cross-functional initiatives from concept through delivery
• Generate and evaluate multiple directions simultaneously before committing to a path
• Produce prototypes and artifacts that communicate systems thinking, interaction depth, and experience quality
• Ship experience improvements directly without engineering dependency where possible

Ecosystem and Systems Thinking

• Design across journeys, not screens, ensuring continuity across onboarding, daily workflows, and growth moments
• Identify and resolve experience fragmentation and design debt across organizational boundaries
• Ensure design systems and patterns travel with AI tools so quality does not degrade at scale
• Balance innovation with consistency to strengthen customer trust and reduce cognitive load

Storytelling and Influence

• Articulate complex design concepts through compelling narratives, frameworks, and visual storytelling
• Facilitate critiques and alignment sessions to drive shared understanding across senior stakeholders
• Influence decisions at the Director and VP level through clarity of thought and strength of craft
• Surface tradeoffs, experience risks, and long-term implications of design choices before they become problems

Craft Leadership and Mentorship

• Set the standard for interaction design, AI-native workflows, and execution quality
• Mentor senior and staff designers, elevating platform thinking, AI fluency, and craft rigor
• Help define what great looks like for designers in an AI-native world
• Strengthen design culture through critiques, rituals, and principled decision-making

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience designing complex, large-scale product experiences
• Demonstrated success shaping platform-level or ecosystem-level design strategy
• Deep expertise in systems thinking, interaction design, and design systems
• A track record of applying AI tools to accelerate design workflows while maintaining craft and quality standards
• Demonstrated ability to set and defend the quality bar for AI-powered product experiences
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools into your design workflow to improve quality, speed, or exploration
• Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and define clarity at scale
• Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end thinking, not just feature design
• Ability to synthesize qualitative insights and quantitative data into actionable design direction
• Experience influencing cross-functional leaders and aligning multiple teams around a shared vision
• Excited to contribute to how the design craft evolves, not just follow where it goes
