About Ixian
Ixian Robotics is building intelligent machines to reindustrialize America. We’re based in San Francisco and backed by a16z and Accel.
We believe robotics is a full-stack problem. Software, hardware, and machine learning are only part of it. Bridging advances in robot learning with America’s industrial base requires invention in how we understand customers, design products, navigate supply chains, and make the economics work. We’re building a company that takes responsibility for all of it.
At Ixian, deployment isn’t the final step after the “real innovation” is complete. Deploying robots is the point of robotics, and deployment is our forcing function for innovation. Putting a machine to work reveals what the lab can’t: what breaks, what matters to the people using it, and what it will take to make our machines indispensable.
Robots are called machines when they work. We intend to build machines.
About the role
You’ll build and run the hands-on operations that support Ixian’s robotics development. You’ll work directly with the founders and engineers to set up equipment, coordinate operators, run repeatable workflows, troubleshoot problems, and keep work moving.
We’re looking for someone technically resourceful, organized, and persistent. You enjoy working with physical systems, learn unfamiliar tools quickly, and follow problems through to resolution. You can maintain precision through repetitive work and adapt when priorities change.
This is an on-site role in San Francisco with substantial ownership. You’ll help turn early workflows into an operation that runs reliably as the team grows.
What you’ll do
Set up equipment and workspaces, check readiness, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues with the engineering team.
Coordinate operators and run collection and evaluation workflows with consistent quality standards and accurate records.
Write procedures and checklists, train operators, and update processes as equipment and requirements change.
Track data quality, throughput, and downtime; investigate recurring problems and help engineers improve the tools people use.
Manage supplies, purchasing, and daily logistics, and take on unfamiliar tasks that unblock the team.
What you’ll bring
Hands-on experience in robotics, labs, manufacturing, field operations, or another environment where physical execution and repeatability matter.
Practical troubleshooting skills and comfort learning unfamiliar equipment and software, with good judgment about when to escalate problems.
Strong organization, clear communication, and reliable follow-through when several people or projects depend on your work.
Attention to detail and patience for repeated work where small mistakes can affect an entire process.
Initiative and adaptability, with evidence of solving practical problems. Basic scripting or experience training operators is a plus.
