About SAVA
All the health information we need is within us. Just below the skin. SAVA is redefining the way people interact with their health by developing the most advanced biosensing technology science has to offer, capable of accessing bodily information in a painless, real-time and affordable way.
The Role
At SAVA, we are rapidly scaling a next-generation biosensor designed to shift healthcare from reactive to preventative. Joining the team as a Senior Production Chemist you will be the person who turns our validated chemistry into a reliable, GMP-compliant supply, taking ownership of the synthesis, QC and batch documentation of the specialist polymers at the heart of our device. You will establish production as a function from the ground up and set the standard for how we make materials as we grow. This is an ideal role for a production chemist with GMP and QA/QC experience who wants real ownership and a direct impact on a health technology with the potential to change lives.
What You’ll Do
- Carry out GMP synthesis of our sensor polymers using validated MPIs.
- Plan production to meet manufacturing demand.
- Support planned scale increases (up to ~200 g) in partnership with R&D.
- Manage raw materials, reagents and supplier CoAs.
- Perform QC testing using validated methods (e.g. NMR, HPLC, KF, elemental analysis).
- Critically review QC methods and specifications, and help bring them in line with GMP.
- Investigate OOS results and deviations, and drive CAPA.
- Manage retained samples and support stability studies.
- Complete batch and QC records to GDP and data integrity standards.
- Compile batch documentation for QA review and release.
- Raise and support change controls to MPIs, QCIs, work instructions and SOPs.
- Keep production equipment calibrated and maintained.
- Support audits as the materials production expert.
- Help build the production function, and later mentor a junior Production Chemist.
- Maintain safe working practices, including risk assessments for scaled reactions.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in chemistry or a related discipline.
- 4+ years’ experience in a chemical production or manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience working under GMP.
- Strong synthetic chemistry skills, including multi-step synthesis and purification at 50 – 500 g scale.
- Experience with QC techniques such as NMR, HPLC, elemental analysis and KF.
- Strong GMP documentation experience, including batch records, deviations, CAPA and change control.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a quality-first mindset.
Bonus Points For
- Experience working under ISO 13485 or in medical devices.
- Experience with air- or moisture-sensitive chemistry.
- Experience of test method validation or process validation.
- Experience of audits (internal, notified body or regulatory).
- Experience in a start-up or fast-growing company.
Why Sava
This is a high-ownership, high-responsibility role in a company that’s building something complex, meaningful, and fast. The expectations are high, the learning curve is steep, and the work is often messy - but the impact is real.
We don’t have room for egos or passengers. What we do have is a team of thoughtful, driven, and mission-aligned people who are committed to building something better - and doing it with urgency and integrity.
