A signal privately tells Pattern Brands you're interested. It is not a job application.
We need a Director of Transportation, North America to own Pattern’s transportation function across North America. This role leads inbound freight, outbound freight, and direct-to-consumer (D2C) shipping, and sets the strategy for how product moves between Pattern’s buildings, carriers, and marketplaces, including Amazon. This is a full-time role and will work a hybrid schedule based in Lehi, Utah.
Own the transportation function for North America, covering inbound freight, outbound freight, and D2C
Lead a team of three direct reports: one for inbound freight, one for outbound freight, and one for D2C
Set the strategy for moving product from Pattern’s buildings to Amazon and other destinations as quickly and cost-effectively as possible
Manage relationships with Amazon, parcel carriers, freight carriers, and other logistics partners
Own North America transportation budgets and spend, split roughly equally between freight and D2C, and track cost and service performance with data
Partner with warehousing and inventory management leaders so goods keep moving between locations
Investigate problems, simplify them, and bring clear recommendations to the VP of Supply Chain/Transportation and other executives
Take ownership of the transportation function only, not the results of the warehouses themselves
Experience in one or two of inbound freight, outbound freight, and D2C, including working with parcel carriers. Experience in all three is not expected
Supply chain transportation experience that goes beyond managing a dock: setting strategy for how goods move between locations, and partnering with carriers and marketplaces to do it
Experience leading a team in transportation
Freight experience is valued, but deep freight specialization is not required, because Pattern uses Amazon Freight for much of its freight
A results focus and a proactive, data-driven approach to investigating and solving problems
The ability to understand complexity, simplify it, and communicate clearly with executives
Inbound freight, outbound freight, and D2C run reliably across North America
Product reaches Amazon and other destinations quickly, and transportation cost and service levels improve over time
The three direct reports are clear on their goals and performing
Problems are investigated and resolved before they affect customers
The VP and other executives get concise, specific updates and can make decisions quickly
This role offers significant opportunity to expand both scope and impact as Pattern continues to grow. Pattern’s growth plan is moving toward a global footprint, and the Director of Transportation, North America will help build the foundation for that growth. This position provides regular exposure to senior leadership and involvement in decisions about logistics, transportation, and operational efficiency.

In the first 30 days, you will focus on gaining a deep understanding of Pattern’s current North America transportation operations, including inbound freight, outbound freight, and D2C, as well as our carrier and Amazon relationships, spend, and open projects. First 60 days:
By 60 days, you will identify and begin delivering quick wins that reduce cost and improve service across freight and D2C. You will set up clearer reporting on transportation performance and agree goals with each of your direct reports.
First 90 days:
By 90 days, you will present a North America transportation strategy aligned with Pattern’s growth goals. It will cover how product moves from our buildings to Amazon and other destinations, a roadmap for improvements to inbound, outbound, and D2C, and the measures you will use to show progress.
You will lead a team of three: an inbound freight lead, an outbound freight lead, and a D2C lead. You will report to the VP of Supply Chain/Transportation, and work cross-functionally with warehousing, inventory management, and finance. This team is data driven and results oriented.
