New Business Manager
Employment type: Full-time (beginning with initial 3-month contractor trial period)
Level: Mid-level to Senior-level
Location: Los Angeles (full-time; hybrid/in-office)
About Day Job:
Day Job is a creative studio headquartered in Los Angeles with around 20 full time employees. We conceptualize brands from the beginning, and launch them into the world. We work largely in consumer spaces, branding or rebranding for companies like Recess, Fly By Jing, David, Grindr, A24, and The BBC.
About the Role: The New Business Manager serves as the first point of contact for all inbound prospective clients, guiding leads from initial outreach through proposals, scopes, contracts, winning the job, and handoff into production. The role owns the early stages of the new-business lifecycle, ensuring inquiries progress efficiently, prospects receive clear communication and follow ups, and internal teams have the information needed for a smooth kickoff.
Additional responsibilities may include external-facing initiatives such as managing awards submissions, coordinating publicity efforts, and overseeing the development of portfolio and case study materials for sales purposes.
Key Responsibilities:
New Business & Inbound Lead Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for all inbound sales inquiries
- Own and administer the CRM (HubSpot), including pipeline stages, lead scoring, email sequences, and reporting; develop new efficiencies as the pipeline grows
- Conduct preliminary research on prospective clients
- Qualify and track the status of new client leads
- Maintain timely and thoughtful follow-up communications with prospective clients
- Prepare and share proposals, scopes of work, and initial contractual materials
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather details needed for accurate estimates
- Guide prospects from first outreach through confirmation of the kickoff (KO) date
- Facilitate smooth handoff to the Producer, ensuring they have the context, expectations, and documents needed for project onboarding
Awards & Publicity Coordination
- Oversee agency awards submissions: research impactful awards programs and entry costs, track deadlines, coordinate materials, prepare entries
- Support PR efforts by coordinating announcements, press releases, social assets, and related communications
Case Study & Portfolio Development
- Lead the creation and maintenance of project case studies, including gathering assets, writing summaries, and coordinating with creative team members
- Ensure studio portfolio content reflects current agency work and strategic direction
- Support the creation of decks, marketing materials, and pitch collateral as needed
Qualifications - 3–5+ years experience in account management, new business coordination, or client services—preferably within a creative agency or design studio
- Hands-on experience running a CRM (HubSpot strongly preferred) — building pipelines, automations, and reporting, not just data entry
- Working knowledge of how creative agency scopes, SOWs, and contracts are structured, and comfort reading/drafting them
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to articulate complex ideas clearly and professionally
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple leads simultaneously
- Comfortable preparing scopes, proposals, and contracts with attention to detail
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and managing handoffs
- Familiarity with proposal/deck tools (e.g., Google Slides, Keynote, Figma, or Proposify) to prepare polished client-facing materials
Bonus Points - Familiarity with awards processes, PR workflows, or marketing/portfolio development
- Experience with project management or resourcing tools (e.g., Float, Asana, Monday) and how they connect to a new-business handoff
- Basic understanding of brand/creative process (naming, identity systems, brand strategy) so you can speak credibly to what the studio does
- Team player, ready to jump in to support other areas of studio growth and daily functions as needed
Who You Are
- A natural communicator who loves building rapport with clients
- Highly proactive, relationship-oriented, and motivated to create a seamless client onboarding experience
- Skilled at translating creative capabilities into actionable next steps
- Excited about helping shape how new clients experience the agency
- Eager to collaborate with producers, creatives, and leadership
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $85,000–$100,000 based on relevant experience.
After a successful 3-month contractor trial period, you will be offered full-time employment including: - Health insurance (100% paid by employer)
- Unlimited PTO (scheduled in coordination with your supervisor)
Day Job is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all.
