About the role

We are looking for an experienced Team Lead, Stores to define and drive the commercial strategy for Bolt Food's Stores vertical in Malta.

Bolt Food's Stores vertical covers everything outside of restaurants: grocery, convenience, essentials, alcohol, pharmaceuticals, beauty, electronics, and more. As Team Lead, you will own the growth and performance of the business across Malta and Gozo, leading commercial expansion across grocery chains and retail categories while building and developing the local team.

Malta is a small, fast-moving market where one person can see the full picture and move the numbers directly. You will lead senior negotiations with the country's largest retailers, own the vertical's commercial performance, and work cross-functionally to scale one of Bolt Food's fastest-growing business areas.

You will report to the Country Manager, with a functional line to the Regional Grocery & Retail Manager.

Please note that this is a full-time permanent employment opportunity based in Malta

Main tasks and responsibilities:

• Own and execute the commercial strategy for the Stores vertical in Malta, identifying growth opportunities and driving expansion across grocery chains and retail categories.

• Drive the vertical's P&L by setting business priorities, monitoring key business metrics, and ensuring sustainable growth and profitability.

• Build and manage relationships with key retail partners, leading senior commercial negotiations, business reviews, and long-term growth plans while overseeing partner lifecycle, including integrations, store rollouts, and operational excellence.

• Lead, coach, and develop a small local Stores team, fostering a culture of ownership, high performance, and continuous development.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Operations, Growth, Marketing, Product, Finance, Legal, and Support) to remove blockers and deliver business outcomes.

• Act as the local business owner for the Stores vertical, balancing strategic priorities with hands-on commercial execution to drive long-term success.

  About you:

• 5+ years of experience in grocery, retail, e-commerce, marketplaces, FMCG, delivery, or other commercial roles with ownership of business performance.

• Experience leading or coaching a team, and managing senior stakeholders, enterprise-level partnerships, and complex commercial negotiations.

• Strong commercial acumen with experience in business development, category management, strategic account management, or similar commercial functions, with a track record of driving long-term business growth.

• Excellent analytical skills, with experience managing P&L performance, interpreting business data, building business cases, and making data-driven decisions.

• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, influencing cross-functional stakeholders, and translating strategy into operational execution.

• Minimum language requirements: English (fluent). Maltese is an advantage.

• Knowledge of the Maltese retail landscape is a strong advantage.

Why you’ll love it here:

• Accelerate your professional growth with unique career opportunities.

• Enjoy a rewarding salary and stock options, knowing that as Bolt succeeds, so do you.

• Take care of your physical and mental health with our wellness perks.

• Celebrate 5 years at Bolt with a 1-month paid sabbatical to recharge.

• Connect with colleagues at annual company events and smaller team gatherings.

• Balance flexibility and in-person collaboration with our hybrid model, including at least 12 monthly in-office days.

Some perks may differ depending on your location and role.
