About Us:
Greenjets is an innovative engineering company developing high-performance propulsion systems for the aviation market. Our work spans research and development, engine production, aircraft systems, technical integration and flight testing. We are committed to delivering high-grade engineering and best-in-class propulsion for unmanned aircraft.
We do things differently. We move fast, we experiment and we adopt technologies that push beyond the current state of the art. Our aim is to go further, faster and more efficiently, while keeping costs competitive.
All our propulsion systems are designed, developed and manufactured in the UK. We focus on high quality, reliable and cost effective products supported by a robust, secure and ethical supply chain.
About the Job:
As a Structural Analysis Engineer at Greenjets, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring our propulsion systems are structurally robust, reliable and capable of operating in demanding aerospace environments. You will use advanced simulation methods to evaluate components and assemblies subjected to high rotational speeds, complex loading conditions, vibration, thermal gradients and fatigue.
What You'll Do:
Perform finite element analysis (FEA) of propulsion system components and assemblies, including static, modal, harmonic, thermal and fatigue assessments.
Develop detailed finite element models, define appropriate boundary conditions, load cases and material properties.
Analyse rotating and high-speed components to assess structural integrity, vibration behaviour and durability.
Support design development by identifying risks, proposing design improvements and optimising component performance.
Conduct stress, strain, displacement, natural frequency and fatigue life assessments.
Correlate simulation results with physical test data and refine modelling approaches where required.
Support root cause investigations and failure analysis activities.
Work closely with Mechanical Design Engineers to ensure designs are analysis-led and manufacturable.
Generate clear technical reports and present findings to engineering stakeholders.
Contribute to the development of analysis methodologies, best practices and validation processes within the engineering team.
Support design reviews and provide technical recommendations throughout the product development lifecycle.
Qualifications, Experience & Attributes:
Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
Ability to interpret design definition and appropriately define FEM restraints and load applications.
Experience with static FEA pre- and post-processing.
Experience in vibration analysis and rotor dynamics.
Knowledge of fatigue lifting and durability assessment methods.
Experience interpreting test measurements and correlating them with FEA.
Experience assessing structural integrity of complex mechanical components and assemblies.
Understanding of material behaviour, stress analysis and failure mechanisms.
Experience producing technical analysis reports and presenting engineering conclusions.
Desirable
Familiarity with gas turbine or turbomachinery architecture.
Experience with analysis of turbomachinery or similar high-speed rotating parts.
Experience with Ansys.
Experience with Catia & 3DX.
Experience with thermal analysis and thermo-mechanical simulations.
Experience performing modal, harmonic response or transient dynamic analysis.
Experience correlating simulation results with rig, development or validation testing.
Exposure to aerospace certification or highly regulated engineering environments.
