Your Impact at LILA
As an AI Research Recruiter at Lila Sciences, you will partner directly with our AI research and engineering teams to identify, engage, and hire the researchers and engineers building our AI-driven platform. This is a strategic, full-cycle role: you'll shape hiring plans with research leadership, build Lila's reputation in the AI research community, and go deep in high-signal technical channels to reach talent that isn't sitting on a job board.
What You'll Be Building
- Develop and execute strategic recruiting plans for AI/ML research and engineering roles, from hiring-manager intake through screen, interview loop management, offer strategy, and close.
- Partner with AI Research hiring managers and interview panels to translate team needs into sourcing strategy, candidate personas, and role calibration.
- Build and sustain a high-trust network of ML researchers and applied scientists across subfields (LLM, RL, Generative AI) through consistent relationship-building, community presence, and non-traditional discovery loops (research publications, GitHub, conferences, open-source).
- Partner with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to map long-term AI/ML talent strategy and balance hiring priorities across research teams.
- Build and iterate on recruiting processes that maintain a high, consistent talent bar while actively removing bias from the hiring process.
- Strengthen Lila's employer brand within the ML research and scientific community — representing our mission, culture, and technical work to candidates with strong options elsewhere.
- Stay current on sourcing techniques, interview innovation, and AI/ML talent-market trends; bring new approaches back to the team.
- Maintain operational rigor: pipeline hygiene, recruiting metrics (time-to-fill, slate quality, source efficacy), and clear communication with candidates and hiring teams.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience supporting technical research teams, with a track record of recruiting AI/ML research talent specifically.
- Strong existing network in the ML research community (NeurIPS, ICML, top CS/ML programs).
- Proven ability to attract passive candidates from leading academic institutions and frontier labs, and to scale a high-performing technical hiring function.
- Strong technical aptitude — comfortable understanding and evaluating ML/research qualifications alongside hiring managers.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills with senior technical leaders.
- Comfortable operating with autonomy and juggling shifting priorities in a fast-moving environment.
Bonus Points For
- Deep interest in AI's potential and a realistic view of its risks and limitations — genuine enthusiasm for Lila's scientific mission.
- Hands-on experience with agentic recruiting tools/workflows (automations, enrichment/triage helpers) to improve candidate discovery.
- Experience recruiting at a deep-tech or frontier AI research organization.
- International recruiting experience across multiple regions.
