Finance Transformation Manager

Serval is an AI-native automation platform transforming how enterprises operate. We build intelligent agents that understand real-world workflows and execute them end-to-end — replacing manual processes and rigid legacy systems with adaptive, learning software. Founded in early 2024, Serval is already trusted by companies like Fox, Notion, Perplexity, Vercel, and Brex to automate high-volume, high-friction operational work across their organizations.

At the core of Serval is an agentic AI platform that turns natural language into production-grade workflows. Our agents don’t just respond to requests — they reason, take action across systems, and continuously improve with usage. What began with operational use cases has quickly evolved into a horizontal AI automation layer used across IT, HR, Finance, Security, Legal, and Engineering.

Our mission is to eliminate repetitive, manual work across the enterprise and give teams leverage through intelligent automation. Long term, we’re building the universal AI operations layer — a system of agents that sits across business functions and runs the workflows that keep modern companies moving.

We’re backed by leading investors including Sequoia Capital, Redpoint Ventures, Meritech, First Round, General Catalyst, Elad Gil, and others.

We’re scaling at a historic pace with a lean finance team, which only works if that team runs on systems, not spreadsheets. Today our finance data lives in disconnected places: ERP, CRM, Bill pay systems, our billing and usage data, payroll, and a lot of exports. Reconciliations, close tasks and reporting take more hands than they should.

You are the technical backbone of Serval Finance. Think of the role as an accounting automation engineer: you connect our finance data, build the data foundations behind sales, marketing and cost reporting, and automate manual accounting workflows, Serval first. Serval runs on Serval, and you will be one of its most demanding internal builders.

The role has two parts:

• Finance transformation (most of your time). Own the finance systems roadmap, build automations and agents on Serval, and create a single, trusted view of our revenue, go-to-market and cost data so leadership can see where to invest, faster.

• Corporate accounting (part time). Run and automate parts of the close yourself: account reconciliations, complex calculations, and day-to-day operations such as Ramp bills and corporate card management.

You'll report to Francisco Meyo, VP, Controller, and work closely with our Head of Finance, RevOps, Engineering, Sales and Marketing leadership, and our revenue accounting team.

• A builder at heart. You scope what matters, prototype it and ship it yourself. You have built agents and automations that run in a real finance operation and that people still use.

• Fluent in both languages. You understand the close, reconciliations and revenue well enough to spot what to automate, and you can write a spec an engineer respects.

• A systems thinker. You design for the long run: clean data models, one source of truth, controls and audit trails built in, and workflows that flag their own exceptions.

• Living on the AI frontier. You bring new techniques to the team as fast as the field moves, and you judge them by hours saved and errors removed, not by novelty.

• Hands-on and unprecious. You will reconcile an account or code a Ramp bill today, and make sure nobody has to do it by hand next month.

• Comfortable in ambiguity. You own your work end to end, set your own priorities from a messy backlog, and move without waiting to be told what to build next.

Lead finance transformation

• Map manual workflows across Finance, rank automation opportunities by time saved and risk reduced, and own a prioritized backlog and roadmap.

• Design and deploy Serval-first agents and workflows for reconciliations, journal entry preparation, accruals, close task tracking, variance analysis and reporting.

• Own project plans, milestones and risks across initiatives, and report status to the VP, Controller and Head of Finance.

• Evaluate and pilot new finance tools when Serval is not the right fit, and build the business case for adoption.

Build the data foundations

• Connect Rillet, Salesforce, Ramp, our billing and usage data, payroll and marketing systems into one trusted finance data layer.

• Build the data models behind sales, marketing and cost reporting, so bookings, pipeline, spend and unit economics come from one source of truth rather than exports.

• Replace manual spreadsheets with automated dashboards that show leadership where we can invest, faster.

• Act as Finance's primary partner to Engineering and RevOps on integrations and internal tooling, translating requirements into technical specs.

Run and automate corporate accounting (part time)

• Own a set of close tasks hands-on, including account reconciliations and complex calculations, then automate them to shorten the close.

• Manage day-to-day operations such as Ramp bills, corporate cards, vendor setup and spend approvals, and automate the routine flow.

• Optimize Rillet as our ERP: chart of accounts, subledgers, workflows and reporting.

Keep it auditable

• Design human-in-the-loop controls, audit trails and documentation so automated outputs are accurate and ready for external audit.

• Write runbooks, train the Finance team on new tools, and own what you ship in production.

• Experience: 6 to 10 years combined across accounting or finance operations and finance systems, including leading at least one implementation or transformation from planning through testing, training and go-live.

• Hands-on AI build experience: you have built and deployed AI agents, LLM workflows or automations that run in production. Not AI-curious; you have shipped.

• Accounting fluency: strong working knowledge of the close, reconciliations, accruals and revenue, enough to own close tasks yourself and spot what to automate.

• Data skills: SQL and comfort building data models and dashboards from messy source systems such as an ERP, a CRM and spend tools.

• Scripting: Python or similar for automation and integration work.

• Integration experience: APIs, workflow or integration tools, and working directly with engineers on technical requirements.

• Communication: you can explain a system design or a data gap to a non-technical executive and get a decision.

• Experience with Rillet, Ramp, Salesforce or a modern data stack (warehouse, dbt, BI tools).

• Exposure to Serval, as a customer, user or builder.

• Background at a high-growth software or AI company.

• Familiarity with internal controls, SOX or supporting external audits.
