Sales Associate

What You'll Do

Avalara is looking for a Sales Associates to drive new business growth across the UK & Ireland. This is a pure hunting role focused on acquiring new customers and expanding Avalara's footprint across an ever-evolving tax and compliance landscape. It offers a clear path to progress into a more senior sales role as you build a track record of success.

You will be a self-starter who isn't afraid to pick up the phone and prospect new customers, attend events and networking opportunities, and build a strong pipeline from scratch. You will be comfortable engaging with finance and compliance stakeholders, positioning Avalara's multi-product tax compliance platform as a necessary enabler of digital transformation and growth.

Beyond regional expertise, you will build global tax domain knowledge, including U.S. sales and use tax. You will also develop an understanding of how emerging technologies like Agentic AI are transforming automation, accuracy, and decision-making in compliance management.

Avalara is seeking an ambitious Sales Associate to join our UK & Ireland New Business Sales team. This is a foundational, early-career closing role designed for high-performing sales development professionals (SDRs/BDRs) or junior sales executives ready to step into a full-cycle sales career.

In this role, your primary engine for success is proactive, outbound pipeline generation. While you master the end-to-end sales cycle, from discovery and product demonstration to commercial negotiation and closing,  you will focus heavily on building outbound pipeline from scratch across target accounts in the UK & Ireland. You will receive structured coaching, enablement, and mentorship from senior sales leaders and peers, offering a defined career pathway to advance into core Mid-Market and Enterprise Account Executive positions.
