Salesforce Business Associate

Passionate about precision medicine and advancing the healthcare industry?
Recent advancements in underlying technology have finally made it possible for AI to impact clinical care in a meaningful way. Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.
The Salesforce Business Associate is the first person the commercial field turns to when something in our systems does not look right: a rep who cannot see their orders, an account under the wrong parent, a new hire with Salesforce but not Looker, a manager missing a territory on their dashboard. You will work inside Salesforce every day as an expert user, partnering with Sales Operations, Customer Support, Pharma Sequencing, Commercial Strategy, and our Salesforce engineering team. You are not the org's administrator. Configuration, provisioning, releases, and access all sit with the platform and IT teams. Your value is knowing what is actually broken, fixing the part Sales Operations owns, and getting the rest to the right owner quickly.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Request Resolution. Act as first point of contact for the commercial field on account, contact, territory, visibility, and reporting questions. Resolve what Sales Operations owns and route the rest with a named owner, never a dead end.
- Diagnosis Over Execution. Work out the underlying problem rather than running the request as worded. A meaningful share of incoming asks are answered by correcting one record, explaining how something already works, or redirecting to a different team.
- Account & Hierarchy Stewardship. Maintain accuracy across accounts, contacts, and account hierarchy. Action hierarchy and merge requests, including declining them with a clear reason when the record is already correct. Resolve unmatched leads and placeholder records so orders land on the right account and provider.
- Roster, Territory & Access Coordination. Keep field roster and territory records current as people join, move, and leave. Execute and reconcile alignment changes on the published cadence. Coordinate new hire and role change access with IT in the correct sequence, and follow up on the steps that are commonly missed.
- Data Operations. Run account and contact data loads through the documented process, with a backup and a rollback step on every load.
- Reporting & Self-Serve Enablement. Build and maintain the Salesforce reports and dashboards the field actually uses. Write job aids and short guides so recurring questions become self-serve.
- Requirements & Continuous Improvement. Spot the requests that keep recurring, and decide whether the fix is a data standard, a process change, or an engineering build. Translate the engineering ones into clear, testable requirements and remain the business point of contact through delivery.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in Business, Analytics, Information Systems, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years as a business analyst on commercial systems, or in sales operations, commercial operations, or CRM support.
- Confident in Salesforce as an expert user: reports and dashboards, record maintenance, and bulk data tools such as Data Loader. Administrator experience is welcome but not required.
- Familiarity with account hierarchy, territory assignment, and sales alignment concepts.
- Experience gathering requirements and collaborating with technical or offshore engineering teams.
- The judgment to recognize when a request is the wrong request, and the confidence to say so and offer the right path.
- Clear, direct written communication. Much of this role is explaining a constraint to a salesperson who does not want to hear it.
- Highly organized, able to hold many open requests at once and keep every one of them moving.
- Healthcare, diagnostics, or precision medicine experience preferred. Exposure to ServiceNow, Okta, or Looker is a plus. Salesforce Administrator certification (ADM-201) is a plus, not a requirement.
US: $70,000 - $90,000
