Job Description and RequirementsWe Are
Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
You Are
You have spent a decade or more inside ASIC and SoC design flows, and you know that the real work begins when a customer tries to integrate IP into their silicon. You have debugged RTL that did not simulate the way anyone expected, walked through floorplans that made timing closure impossible, and sat in labs at 2 a.m. during bring-up because the system would not boot and someone had to figure out why. That someone was you.
You do not just understand PCI Express or SerDes on paper. You have integrated them, validated them, and watched them either work or fail in real customer designs. When something breaks, you do not escalate first. You dig in, reproduce it, narrow it down, and come to the table with a hypothesis and a path forward.
Working with customers energizes you. You know how to translate a dense technical issue into something a project lead can act on, and you are comfortable sitting across from a skeptical engineering team and earning their trust through competence, not slides. You manage multiple customer engagements at once without losing track of details, and you treat every integration issue like it matters because it does.
At Synopsys, you will work directly with the teams building the chips that power everything from AI infrastructure to automotive systems, and what you help them solve will ship.
What You'll Be Doing
- Guide customers through the integration of Synopsys PCI Express and High-Speed SerDes IP into their SoC designs, from RTL handoff through synthesis, floorplanning, and timing closure
- Conduct integration reviews at key project milestones, identifying potential issues in simulation, physical design, or system architecture before they become blockers
- Debug complex RTL simulation failures, gate-level mismatches, and timing violations using tools like Design Compiler, Fusion Compiler, and PrimeTime
- Support silicon bring-up and system characterization in customer lab environments, working hands-on to validate IP performance in real hardware
- Develop application notes, integration guidelines, and best practice documentation that help customers move faster and avoid common pitfalls
- Collaborate with Synopsys R&D teams to relay customer feedback, reproduce field issues, and influence product roadmaps based on real-world integration challenges
- Travel occasionally to customer sites for on-site support, design reviews, and bring-up activities
The Impact You Will Have
- Reduce customer time-to-market by solving integration and bring-up challenges that would otherwise delay tape-outs and product launches
- Build long-term customer relationships that result in repeat IP adoption across multiple product generations
- Improve the quality and robustness of Synopsys IP by surfacing real-world integration issues and driving product improvements with R&D
- Enable successful deployment of chips that power AI, 5G, automotive, and consumer electronics applications used by millions of people
- Establish Synopsys as the trusted technical partner customers turn to when their most critical designs are on the line
- Influence how the next generation of PCI Express and SerDes IP is designed, documented, and delivered based on what you learn in the field
- Accelerate adoption of the latest interface protocols by helping customers confidently integrate cutting-edge IP into production silicon
What You'll Need
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with 10+ years of industry experience, or equivalent practical experience in IP design or ASIC/SoC integration
- Deep hands-on experience integrating and validating High-Speed SerDes IP for PCI Express, USB, or SATA in real SoC designs
- Strong working knowledge of ASIC design flows including RTL simulation, synthesis, floorplanning, place and route, and timing closure
- Proficiency debugging RTL and gate-level simulations, with direct experience using Design Compiler, Fusion Compiler, and PrimeTime
- Experience with silicon bring-up and system-level characterization in lab environments, including oscilloscope and protocol analyzer usage
- Solid understanding of PCI Express and SerDes architecture, implementation flows, and common integration challenges
- Exceptional candidates with strong silicon debug experience and relevant academic background will be considered even if they do not meet the exact years of experience
Who You Are
- You can walk into a customer meeting, hear a vague description of a simulation failure, ask three clarifying questions, and leave with a clear plan to reproduce and resolve it
- When a customer says their design does not close timing, you do not just suggest running another iteration, you look at the floorplan, the constraints, and the IP configuration to find the actual bottleneck
- You are comfortable working independently across multiple customer engagements, keeping each one moving forward without waiting for someone to tell you what to do next
- You treat customer issues like they are your own, which means you follow through until the problem is solved, not just until your shift ends
- You can explain a complex SerDes integration tradeoff to a project manager in two sentences and then turn around and debug the same issue at the signal integrity level with a hardware engineer
- You stay current with evolving protocols and standards because you know that what you learned five years ago is not enough to support what customers are building today
The Team You'll Be Part Of
Your recruiter will share more about the team structure and mission during the interview process.
Rewards and Benefits
We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process
At Synopsys, we want talented people of every background to feel valued and supported to do their best work. Synopsys considers all applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, military veteran status, or disability.
