About Utila
At Utila, we build the enterprise-grade platform that more than 300 global institutions run their digital asset operations on. Our technology secures $25B+ in monthly transaction volume and has protected over $200B to date. We’re backed by $50M in funding, and our customer base is growing fast.
The systems we build are mission-critical, so we hold them to the highest standard: precise, secure, and reliable. If you want to own hard problems end to end, work alongside people who raise the bar, and leave your mark on the future of financial technology, you’ll feel at home here.
How we work
At Utila, we believe in extreme ownership. It’s our philosophy and mindset, how we operate. We Own It. We own our standard. Excellence here isn’t aspirational; it’s the standard. Quality, security, and reliability are non-negotiable when you build to protect financial assets. We hold every detail to the highest standard and never scale at the expense of quality.
As our Senior Controller, you’ll report directly to our VP Finance and take broad responsibility across accounting, financial operations, reporting, budgeting, controls and compliance. You’ll run the day-to-day finance function and keep building the processes and infrastructure a fast-growing global company needs. The role combines accounting leadership with systems, controls and business partnership, and there’s plenty of room for the scope to grow as we scale.
What you’ll own
- The monthly, quarterly and annual close, end to end, with accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Lead accounting operations across the US parent company and international subsidiaries, and manage the bookkeeping function.
- Run balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany accounting, cash reconciliations and working capital reporting.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing and collections together with the broader Finance team.
- Oversee revenue recognition and contract accounting for SaaS customer agreements.
- Build and keep improving our financial processes, internal controls, reconciliations and accounting policies, along with finance systems, automation, reporting infrastructure and data quality.
- Lead the day-to-day work with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, payroll providers and other finance vendors, and support statutory reporting, tax filings and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Partner with department leaders on their budgets: track actual spend against budget, identify variances, and support forecasting, cost control, annual budgeting and periodic reforecasts.
- Work with FP&A and business stakeholders so that reporting and forecasts reflect what’s actually happening in the business.
- Support audits, due diligence and other strategic finance projects, and help build the Finance team and its processes as we scale.
- CPA with a Big 4 background.
- 5+ years of in-house finance experience after Big 4, with meaningful Controller-level responsibility, across at least two in-house roles or companies.
- Significant experience in a high-growth technology or SaaS company.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting, and a solid understanding of SaaS revenue recognition and customer contract accounting.
- Experience managing multi-entity, international accounting environments.
- A proven ability to run a monthly close independently, end to end.
- Experience overseeing or professionally managing bookkeeping or accounting teams.
- Experience with departmental budgets, budget-to-actual analysis and financial forecasting.
- High proficiency in Excel, and comfort with financial systems and large datasets.
- A hands-on, detail-oriented approach that keeps the broader business and financial context in view.
- You build and improve processes rather than simply running the ones you inherit.
- Clear communication with Finance and non-Finance stakeholders alike.
- Comfort in a fast-moving, high-growth environment where priorities change.
- Fluent English.
Nice to have
- Experience with QuickBooks and/or Priority.
- Experience with NetSuite, including taking part in an ERP implementation or migration.
- Experience working with US and Israeli entities.
- Experience with SaaS billing, collections and revenue operations.
- Experience implementing finance systems, automation and scalable reporting processes.
- Experience supporting audits, fundraising or financial due diligence.
This is an opportunity to take significant ownership of the finance infrastructure of a rapidly growing global technology company.
The role combines accounting leadership with financial operations, budgeting, systems, controls and business partnership, with significant room to expand in scope and responsibility as the company continues to scale.
