Company Description

At ETAS GmbH, a wholly owned affiliate of the Bosch Group, we shape the future of mobility by developing embedded systems and cloud-connected solutions at the core of the modern assisted, software-defined, and autonomous driving landscape.  Engineering services, consulting, training, and support activities complete our toolbox to achieve the mission of making everyday life safer and better.

Job Description

We are currently seeking a passionate student in their final year of a Master's degree program to join our team for a paid curricular internship opportunity for thesis.

As an intern, you will investigate how modern AUTOSAR code generation technologies can be optimized to efficiently operate on resource-constrained embedded platforms. The project will explore the challenges and opportunities of deploying AUTOSAR-based software across a broad range of microcontroller architectures, from low-end devices with tight memory and performance constraints to more capable automotive-grade platforms.

The goal of this theis internship is to analyse the assumptions and dependencies embedded in AUTOSAR code generators, identify optimization opportunities, and develop methodologies to improve portability, scalability, and runtime efficiency across different hardware architectures. The project combines software architecture analysis, embedded systems engineering, performance optimization, and practical experimentation.

If you are interested in embedded systems, automotive software, code generation technologies, software optimization, and software architecture portability, we encourage you to apply and become part of our dynamic team!

You will…

• Learn about the architecture of modern AUTOSAR Classic code generation toolchains
• Analyse generated AUTOSAR software and identify optimization opportunities related to memory footprint, CPU utilization, and code size
• Develop proof-of-concept solutions demonstrating how AUTOSAR components can be optimized for resource-constrained embedded platforms
• Define a methodology for evaluating software portability and efficiency across different microcontroller architectures
• Investigate platform-specific assumptions in generated source code and propose architectural improvements
• Perform measurements and benchmarking activities to assess the impact of different optimization strategies
• Work together with experienced software developers who will mentor and guide you throughout your journey
• Have the opportunity for potential full-time employment upon successful completion of the internship
