Job Description

1.Process Innovation and R&D
- Drive Advanced Process Development: Lead the research, design, and implementation of cutting-edge laser-based manufacturing processes—including welding, cutting, drilling, structuring, and patterning—tailored for high-growth industries like NEV, hydrogen/fuel cells, and power electronics.
- Own the Laser Laboratory: Conduct hands-on feasibility studies, rapid process validation, and multi-parameter optimization in our state-of-the-art laboratory, transforming early-stage concepts into robust, repeatable industrial processes.
- Optimize process parameters to achieve extreme high-speed and high-yield targets, directly reducing Cycle Time (CT) for mass production lines.
- Develop specialized, high-yield welding processes for highly reflective and dissimilar materials (e.g., Copper-to-Aluminum busbars) utilizing advanced beam shaping and green/blue wavelength technologies.

2.Machine Integration & Performance
- Accelerate the transition from laboratory proof-of-concept to automated shop-floor execution, supporting rapid prototyping and agile machinery commissioning.
- System-Level Troubleshooting: Analyze, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues at the intersection of laser optics, process physics, and mechanical automation to guarantee maximum machine efficiency and product quality.

3.Customer Success & Industry Leadership
- Act as a Trusted Technical Consultant: Partner directly with global customers to analyze their unique technical requirements, translating complex engineering challenges into tailored, high-performance laser solutions.
- Shape the Future of Manufacturing: Keep our technology at the forefront of the industry by continuously identifying, testing, and incorporating advancements in ultra-fast/high-power laser sources, advanced beam shaping and optical sensors.
- Deliver High-Standard Technical Documentation: Author comprehensive process guidelines, technical whitepapers, and validation reports to ensure seamless knowledge transfer internally and to our customers.

4.Work #LikeABosch
Thrive in a collaborative, trust-based international culture that actively respects your personal time. We champion a healthy work-life balance through flexible working hours, hybrid/smart work options (where laboratory duties permit), and a focus on high-efficiency, high-quality output rather than mandatory overtime.

Qualifications

1.Education & Specialized Background
- Academic Foundation: Master's degree or PhD in Laser Technology, Optical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field. (For PhD holders, a strong focus on laser-matter interaction or optical system design is highly preferred; for Master's, solid industrial R&D experience is key).
- Industry-Specific Expertise: Minimum of 3-5 years of proven hands-on experience in laser material processing (specifically welding, cutting, or structuring) with a strong track record in eDrive (hairpin welding), lithium-ion battery manufacturing, or power electronics/semiconductors.

2.Core Technical Mastery
- Advanced Laser Sources & Beam Delivery: Deep technical understanding of high-power fiber lasers, ultrafast lasers (picosecond/femtosecond), and advanced beam shaping technologies (e.g., adjustable ring-mode / AMB lasers, wobble heads, and scanner systems).
- Laser Safety & Optical Design: Solid knowledge of international laser safety standards (e.g., IEC 60825) and hands-on familiarity with optical simulation tools (e.g., Zemax, TracePro) is a strong advantage.
- Automation & Diagnostics Integration: Practical experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and a strong understanding of how laser systems interface with automated machinery (PLCs, fieldbus systems, robotics). Experience with in-line process monitoring (e.g., OCT, pyrometry, or vision-based weld tracking) is highly valued.

3.Mindset, Leadership & Communication
- Analytical & Hands-on Problem Solver: A methodical, data-driven approach to troubleshooting (utilizing DoE/Design of Experiments, 8D methodologies, or Six Sigma) combined with a willingness to get hands-on in the laser laboratory.
- Global Communication Skills: Professional fluency in English (written and spoken) is required to collaborate within Bosch's global network.
- Collaborative Driver: A strong team-player mindset with the agility to act as the technical bridge between cross-functional R&D, mechanical design, and demanding customer engineering teams.
