About the role
About the role
About UsParametric builds robots to automate physical labor. We’re starting with an autonomous laundromat, from dirty laundry to clean, folded clothes. We’re a small engineering team moving from prototype to production, and we’re hiring a technician to help us build and maintain our robots.
About the RoleYou’ll assemble robots in our shop, service them in the field, and help establish the processes that make each build more reliable and repeatable. You’ll work closely with our engineers to troubleshoot hardware, improve assembly methods, and keep parts and tools organized.
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in careful workmanship and follows problems through to a working solution. As our designs evolve, you’ll help turn what we learn into clear build instructions, inspection procedures, and maintenance practices.
What You’ll Do- Assemble robots and mechanical and electrical subassemblies from engineering drawings, bills of materials, and build instructions.
- Build and install wiring harnesses, sensors, actuators, and compute hardware. Check connections, fastener torque, cable routing, and strain relief.
- Perform inspections, initial power-on checks, calibration, and functional tests before robots leave the shop.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical failures in the shop and at deployment sites. Perform preventive maintenance and document repairs.
- Implement and maintain repeatable build processes, including assembly instructions, inspection checklists, and records of installed parts and hardware revisions.
- Manage parts inventory: receive and inspect deliveries, organize and label stock, prepare parts kits for builds, track usage, and flag shortages before they delay work.
- Work with engineers on prototype builds, rework, and simple fixtures. Report recurring failures and assembly problems so we can improve the design.
- Keep the shop, tools, and field service kits organized, maintained, and ready for use. Follow safe practices when working around powered equipment and moving robots.
- Two or more years of hands-on experience building, maintaining, or repairing electromechanical equipment, or equivalent practical experience. Robotics, automotive, aerospace, industrial maintenance, and electronics backgrounds are all relevant.
- Comfortable using hand tools, torque drivers, calipers, and a multimeter.
- Experience with electrical assembly, including crimping, soldering, connectors, and wiring harnesses.
- Ability to follow mechanical drawings and basic wiring diagrams, spot discrepancies, and ask for clarification when something does not match.
- A methodical approach to troubleshooting. You can describe the problem, isolate the cause, verify the repair, and record what changed.
- Clear written communication and consistent attention to documentation, parts tracking, and build quality.
- Comfortable working in a small team where designs and priorities change, and willing to travel to deployment sites for installation and service.
- Experience writing assembly instructions or improving build, maintenance, or inventory processes.
- Familiarity with Linux, basic networking, and installing software or firmware using documented procedures.
- Experience with 3D printing, basic fabrication, CAD, or making assembly and test fixtures.
Show us something you’ve built, repaired, or improved. Photos, project links, or a short description of a difficult repair or process improvement are welcome. Tell us what you did and how you knew it worked.
Parametric PBC is a public benefit corporation building robots to benefit all humans. We're a proud equal-opportunity employer and encourage applications from all individuals regardless of race, color, religion, sex, gender, national origin, disability, age, or veteran status. We encourage you to apply even if you don't strictly meet all the requirements.
About Parametric
Parametric builds autonomous physical businesses run by our robots. We're starting with a laundromat, designed from the ground up for autonomy. Dirty laundry in, folded clean laundry out. Rather than retrofit human workflows with robots, we redesign processes with robots as first class citizens.
