Help Shape the Next Chapter of Thermo Fisher Scientific

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, our Mission is our Purpose: to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.

As the world leader in serving science, we combine industry-leading scale, strong financial performance, market-leading businesses, and significant investment in innovation to make an extraordinary impact around the world.

M&A is central to our growth strategy and is expected to represent the majority of our capital deployment. Since 2020, we have signed or completed 25+ transactions representing approximately $45 billion in M&A, including the $20+ billion acquisition of PPD, which established Thermo Fisher as a leader in the global CRO industry. Our transactions span the life sciences ecosystem—from molecular biology and life science instrumentation to biologics, drug development, and manufacturing.

With one of the most active Corporate Development teams across any industry, Thermo Fisher offers an exceptional opportunity to work at the intersection of strategy, science, finance, and transformational growth.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to play an influential role in shaping the future of a global industry leader.

As a senior member of Corporate Development, you will help identify, evaluate, and execute strategic transactions that advance Thermo Fisher’s long-term growth agenda. You will work on complex, high-impact opportunities with significant visibility across the organization and direct exposure to senior leadership.

You will be involved from the earliest stages of strategy and opportunity identification through valuation, diligence, negotiation, executive decision-making, and transaction execution.

For an accomplished M&A professional, this role offers a rare combination of transaction scale and volume, senior-level exposure, strategic influence, and the opportunity to help shape one of the world’s leading life sciences companies.

What You’ll Do

•  Shape M&A strategy and develop decision-support analyses for Thermo Fisher’s senior leadership team.
• Identify and evaluate strategic opportunities, including acquisitions, investments, joint ventures, and divestitures.
• Lead transactions from strategy through execution, including valuation, diligence, negotiation, and closing.
• Influence critical investment decisions by developing and presenting compelling strategic and financial business cases to senior executives.
• Develop market perspectives by evaluating industry dynamics, competitive landscapes, and emerging opportunities.
• Partner across the enterprise with business leaders and functional experts to advance strategic priorities.
• Lead and develop talent, mentoring Analyst, Associate, and Manager-level Corporate Development professionals.

What You’ll Bring

• Undergraduate degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Science, or a technical discipline; MBA preferred.
• 10+ years of meaningful M&A experience across acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, investment banking, corporate development, or related transaction environments.
• Significant experience evaluating and executing complex transactions, including valuation, financial modeling, analysis, and negotiation.
• Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate business priorities into actionable inorganic growth opportunities.
• Demonstrated leadership experience and a track record of developing high-performing professionals.
• Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the confidence to engage, influence, and present to senior leaders.
• Outstanding financial and analytical capabilities with a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statement analysis.
• Ability to manage multiple complex transactions and priorities in a fast-paced, global, matrixed organization.
• Intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, learning agility, and exceptional attention to detail.
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to seeking and supporting diverse perspectives.
• Willingness to travel periodically, domestically and internationally.

Why This Opportunity Stands Apart

Few Corporate Development roles offer this combination of scale, transaction activity, executive exposure, strategic influence, and Mission-driven impact.

You’ll join a highly active Corporate Development organization with the resources and ambition to pursue significant opportunities across the global life sciences landscape. This is more than an opportunity to execute transactions—it’s an opportunity to help shape where Thermo Fisher invests, how we grow, and the future of our company.
