Meet the Team

We are part of Cisco’s Product Go-to-Market organization, bringing product, engineering, and go-to-market expertise together to address customer needs and deliver measurable business outcomes. We focus on user experience, engineering excellence, and secure, resilient technology.

The Licensing On-Prem team supports Cisco’s shift toward software and subscription offerings. We build a robust platform for recurring revenue and subscription enablement, working with core component teams across Java, Python, and Go.

Your Impact

As a Software Engineering Technical Leader, you will design, build, and deliver platform and user-facing capabilities for Cisco’s Licensing On-Prem applications. You will remain hands-on while guiding major initiatives from concept through production and operation.

  • Design and deliver backend and platform capabilities that improve reliability, scalability, security, operational efficiency, and developer experience.
  • Architect and implement services, microservices, APIs, and platform components for enterprise and on-premises environments.
  • Contribute to design, development, code reviews, debugging, testing, and production issue resolution using either Java or Go, together with Python.
  • Use AI-assisted tools where appropriate to improve engineering efficiency, software quality, troubleshooting, and delivery.
  • Lead technical planning across teams, align architectures and interfaces, resolve dependencies, and guide delivery.
  • Improve system diagnostics, resilience, performance, and maintainability.
  • Set standards for architecture, code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, release reliability, and secure engineering.
  • Own production-readiness reviews, incident learning, root-cause analysis, and long-term reliability improvements.
  • Mentor engineers and communicate technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 11+ years of professional software development experience delivering enterprise-grade backend, platform, or systems software.
  • Expert-level backend development experience with either Java or Go, combined with strong Python proficiency, including the design and implementation of services, APIs, and microservices.
  • Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, transactions, query performance, and distributed systems concepts such as consistency, concurrency, fault tolerance, and scalability.
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools for software design, implementation, code review, troubleshooting, or developer productivity.
  • Strong experience with Linux, host-level troubleshooting, CI/CD, unit and integration testing, release engineering, and production operations.
  • Proven ability to define solution architecture, influence technical strategy, and guide delivery across multiple teams without direct authority.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with enterprise and on-premises platforms, host-based services, and large-scale platform automation.
  • Deep expertise in system diagnostics, reliability engineering, incident management, and operational excellence.
  • Experience with configuration automation, policy governance, secure software supply chains, and application security practices.
  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals and low-level system behavior, with a record of mentorship and technical community contribution.
