At RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, 185,000 great minds are united by purpose and inspired to make a difference solving the world’s most complex problems. With our three market leading businesses, world-class operations and investments in research and development, we offer capabilities and opportunity no one else can. Together, we push the boundaries of known science and find new ways to connect and protect our world.

What You Will Do:

In this role you will lead development of model predictive propulsion control algorithms, engine parameter estimation algorithms, and model predictive fuel control systems. Model predictive control algorithms coordinate multiple system inputs to optimize engine and fuel system operation.

• Plan and develop model predictive control and parameter estimation algorithms for military and commercial engine programs
• Develop engine, actuation, and fuel system dynamic models and apply these models for development of functional requirements for control law algorithms, fuel system and actuation dynamics
• Develop model-based sensor and actuator fault detection, isolation, and accommodation (FDIA) algorithms
• Collaborate with internal customers/stakeholders to identify opportunities for control law product and process improvements
• Participating in improving process and standards for development, validation, and verification of engine control laws, fuel system control laws, and FDIA algorithms

What You Will Learn:

• Gas turbine engine control law theory and practice.

• Realtime gas turbine engine modeling and analysis.

• State estimation for gas turbine engine performance estimation.

• Engine operability and performance.

• Engine control law software verification and validation.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) obtained by start date.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Proficiency in one or more of the following technical areas: multivariable feedback control, model predictive control, numerical optimization, state estimation, stability analysis of multivariable and hybrid systems, real-time propulsion system and fuel system dynamic modeling, simulation, and dynamic analysis.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Expertise developing physics-based models of turbo-machinery components by applying principles and methods from thermodynamics, aerodynamics, and heat transfer and integrating component models into a numerically robust system model
• Expertise developing physics-based models of fuel systems and fueldraulic actuation systems Expertise developing dynamic models using the Modelica modeling language
• Expertise designing and analyzing estimation algorithms by applying methods and tools from multi-input multi-output dynamical linear system and estimation theory
• Expertise applying statistical models and methods for modeling uncertainty propagation in dynamical systems
• Experience with Matlab and Simulink

What We Offer

• Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. At RTX we value: Trust, Respect, Accountability, Collaboration, and Innovation.
