Dev's research focuses on advancing autonomous systems for scientific discovery. He splits his time between the Global Ecology Lab and Exaforge Labs. At the Global Ecology Lab, he works on foundation models for predicting tree mortality and fire risk, as well as autoresearch for mechanistic models. At Exaforge, he explores broader questions around ultra-long-horizon autonomous research, simulations and evals, and machine creativity. Previously, Dev co-founded a tech consulting company serving governments and spent several years building robots. Outside of work, he spends much of his time traveling.
